This text assumesthat the student has learned the first 26 phonograms (sounds each letter of thealphabet makes). Students will then begin the text with CVC words, learning theinitial markings of phonograms, with the aim of learning 75 phonograms beforebeginning reading in the included Elson Reader Primer (located in the back ofthis book). Brief program introductory notes are written to you as teacher;spend some time with these prior to starting the program. Then, as you beginthe first week, youll follow the scripted lessons. While the author encouragesstudents to read and write the words they are learning, the author does providealternative methods for students who are still developing their handwriting motorskills.
